I am a teacher, scholar, grassroots journalist, and musician. In my heart I am always, at least metaphorically, at the Walter Benjamin memorial in Portbou, Spain (where the above photo was taken), writing something and dancing the delicate dance between the ruins of the past, the “permanent state of emergency” of the present, and the possible passages to a better future.
